As we age our cells produce significantly less NAD+ a critical co-enzyme needed for DNA repair, mitochondrial function, and energy availability in the body. NAD+ supports all 7 Sirtuins – NAD+ dependent enzymes that are known to be important for DNA repair and support mitochondrial and cellular function. Pterostilbene is a sirtuin activating compound, and in conjunction with NAD+ stimulates repair networks and energy generation in the cell. As our NAD+ levels decline with age and this affects our stem cells – key cells that are the source of replacement cells, we need to keep our tissues healthy.
